4 stars! I love rocker! Jesse and Evan were great characters, flawed, but adorable and Jess's honesty melted me more than a few times. Evan-I loved him. Talented, hot, emotionally closed off and obviously harboring a lot of pain. Definitely up there with some of my all time fav characters.Jess-I must admit...it wasn't love at first read with Jesse. While I understood immediately the kind of person he was and why, he took a little while to grow on me, but in the end, he so totally did. Something about his youthful honesty made him completely lovable.
The side characters are good, too. Brandon! Oh how I wish he was my big brother! And Kenny...though at first I wasn't too sure about him, but ultimately he was awesome, too. Trish...was anyone else hoping she would slip on a drum stick and break her neck, or was that just me?
There were a few things that personally didn't work for me, the whole super rich, look at my car collection, etc...is kinda..."eh" to me leaning toward annoying, but I got over it.
I loved how the relationship developed, even though it was quick, it didn't feel forced and I could in fact feel something between them. The banter about their ages had me giggling at several points and there was some serious hotness...not just hot, but sweet hotness and that's the best!
To be very honest a lot of times when "lyrics" are included I end up not really enjoying them, but I think the lyrics in this book did so much to convey emotion that I really appreciated them.

First time reading S.J. Frost and let me just say after reading Conquest I am a big fan. Jesse and Evan, the main charachters, are irresitable. The secondary charachters are great. This book is about 360 pages and everyone of those pages are worth the read. As soon as I finished this book, at one sitting, I purchased the rest of the Conquest Series.
Fantastic series. Great character development, story lines and a strong start to the series. The story draws you in and keeps your interest throughout the whole book. The real life stories that are outlined are common day problems that many people face. I have read the entire book series 20+ times, and I'm sure I will go back and read them again in the near future.
S J Frost has done a marvellous story for us. A perfect lovestory between two hot men. Evan Arden and Jesse Alexander are two men in the music world. Arden, the multiplatinium selling artist and Jesse, who wants to be recognized for his band Conquest.
We follow them through the process of getting there with a little help from Arden, who fell flat for Jesse.
I don't want to say more because I want you to read it yourself. I'll just say go get it NOW,
I really liked this book. Jesse is gorgeous. He is also cocky, conceited and a sarcastic smart ass. But somehow the author pulls off making this character loveable instead of obnoxious. Evan-A famous rock star tortured soul who is poetic and eloquent in his love for Jesse. This is different than the other m/m books I have read. There is no struggle when the characters find their immediate connection. The author weaves a beautiful, tender love story with both characters diving in and fully committing from the first moment they meet. There is some angst, conflict and heartbreak to spice it up though. I am really glad there is a sequel because I am not done with these two yet.
Conquest The contemporary setting is Chicago, IL the main characters are Jesse Alexander who is working towards getting his band in the limelight and Evan Arden,a rockstar hiding from his fans and public life.
There is an immediate chemistry between the two men; both are remarkable vocalist with a passion for each other and for creating music. Both men have past emotional baggage that plays a role in their current behavior. The storyline is a love story filled with amusing dialogue as well as developed characters that communicate friendship, emotional mayhem, protectiveness and the capacity to love and forgive. The well paced plot encourages the readers to continue turning the pages until the end. The description of city life adds a touch of realism. I found Conquest to be very enjoyable in addition to being heartwarming and a superbly written happy ever after m/m romance. I look forward to the sequel No Fear coming in the future.
Why oh why did it take me so long to read this book? This book is epic, it has everything in it, we get the angst, we get a couple of ‘baddies’ we get homophobia, we get love and adoration, we get an amazing couple, we get great lyrics, we get a great storyline and the sex, holy hell.... it’s hot hot hot... I’m truly hoping the sequel Ives me the feels as much as this book did.
On to the next one...
I picked up this book based on being highly recommended to read, especially as my first M/M book. I will be honest to say going in I was a little nervous and skeptical about reading M/M and found the sex scenes to be a bit weird to read at first but the further I got into the book the further in love I fell with both of these characters and their love for each other.
I am normally do not care for rocker books but decided to give it a try as it came highly recommended by a book blog I truly love and respect their reviews of the books they read, and once again, they did not disappoint, a book they loved was bang on for me too.
Jesse and Evan were two amazing characters you couldn't help but fall in love with and have to say the level of emotion between them and that I felt from this book was truly astounding, I could not put this book down and there were moments I just had to due to the emotions I couldn't help but feel from reading it.
This was my first M/M book and book written by this author but definitely won't be my last! Great job on the story and the writing.
